Pigs Fly- And Whatnot

As I have mentioned many times before, Ian's never been a great sleeper (according to most people's definitions). Well, lately he has started taking longer naps... I am talking two to three hour naps! Naps that I can actually accomplish small tasks within, fall asleep within, and wake up before him feeling rested. WHAT?! He wakes up in such a good mood.

He goes down around 1 PM and used to only ever sleep until 2:30 at the latest.

Today he woke up at 4:30 PM, played happily, ate dinner, and chose to forego his bath so that he could "Read books and nap." Nap tends to be his term for sleep. He was in his bed, by himself, at 7:20, which is when we are normally brushing teeth and putting on pajamas.

And he's also (almost always) sleeping through the night.

You know how people always say "This won't last forever" or "This too shall pass?" Well, I was beginning to believe that both of these phrases couldn't apply to my child.

Sleep through the night? Never.
Fall asleep by himself? You've got to be joking.
Ask to be put to bed? Ha! Dream on.

But, pigs do fly. Phases change. Children do grow up.

Parenthood's full of bittersweet moments.
