Postponing Posting

My apologies for being very inactive lately. We have been traveling, visiting, working on projects, and making our house more our own during this last week. Pictures are piling up on my computer and on our cameras, waiting for a time when I have better internet access to upload them for posts.

Tomorrow ends our July vacation time together, as Jim starts his fourth (AND LAST!) year of medical school. He begins this year with his ER rotation and he's working six twelve hour shifts in a row of days, then taking one day off and then starting six twelve hour shifts of nights. Crazy? Yes. But I am oh-so-grateful that this will be out of the way before Baby B arrives!

Expect more to come soon :)

New York City

A couple weekends ago we enjoyed a few days with good friends. Tim, Jim's best man, & KC are living in an apartment right on Central Park in New York City. Jim had never been to NYC, so we decided that this was the perfect opportunity to visit great friends AND do some sight-seeing.

Throughout the pregnancy I had said that we should get up there earlier rather than later because I wouldn't be able to move around too much as the months progressed. Well, I hit the seven month mark right about the time we were heading to NYC. Fortunately, my body and the baby did pretty well booking it around the city, Jim's main mission was not to sight see but to spend time with awesome people, and our hosts were content to walk, take breaks, eat gelato, and do food tourism with us. In fact, Tim says that he always wants to travel with a pregnant lady! Ha! For the record though, we DID see a lot of stuff for the 2.5 days we were there.

Food Tourism: Our meals consisted of Chinese, Mexican, Cuban, Indian, & Turkish, with Italian gelati sprinkled throughout the hot afternoons. Yum!

Here are a few pictures from our trip:

Thank you to Tim & KC for a wonderful visit! We always enjoy our time with you.
Who knows where we'll be the next time one of us visits the other.
Or, perhaps there will be a fun vacation destination! We'll see.

Four Years!!!

Lucy O Photo, 07-08-09
Four years ago we celebrated with friends and family, got married at my favorite place, and paddled away to start our journey of marriage.

It's hard to believe that these years have already slipped by, but when I start to think about it we've done a whole lot! We've tried to visit family & friends as much as possible, adventure and explore new places (Louisiana, Texas, Alaska, Maine, & New York City), and do the best we can where we've been planted (Lafayette, Louisiana & Blacksburg, Virginia).

This year certainly didn't go as we were thinking/planning this time last summer, but we made it to the other side stronger, centered, and more in love than ever.

And, as my cousin just pointed out, this is our last anniversary as a duo! We are so excited for what our fourth year of marriage has in store for us. It's a big, BIG year. September will bring a wonderful and life-changing dynamic into our lives as we welcome a baby girl or boy into our midst. Parenthood, here we come!

Not only are we adding a third member of our family, but we are also preparing for the switch from medical school to a three year residency program. Part of this coming year will be spent interviewing and rotating with potential programs for Jim to finish his training as an osteopathic doctor in the field of family medicine.

By this time next year we will have moved to a new location with our approximately ten month old! Wow! Stay tuned.

Erin & Russ' Wedding!

On Saturday, June 29th Jim's sister, Erin got married to Russell. It was a beautiful wedding in a beautiful church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Though there was no air conditioning in the church, we all managed not to melt away! It was wonderful to catch up with and meet new family members, some of whom Jim hadn't seen for years and years.

Here's to a great couple!!! Hope you are having a lovely honeymoon in the Poconos!!

Here are a few pictures from their special day:

The family is now up to seven members and counting ;)

We are so happy for you, Russ & Erin!

P.S. Jim's test is done! What a relief! We'll wait for the results for a few weeks.
Now it's time to enjoy time with family and friends, and the river and the beach!
